JAMES RIVER ASSEMBLY WILSON'S CREEK CAMPUS COMPETITION

James River Assembly Wilson's Creek Campus was formed as a satellite facility in 2009. The design competition gathered ideas from select area architects to re-brand the existing abandoned church with JRA's unique ministry focus.

This design solution proposed a new sanctuary and focal element to be viewed from James River Expressway, while also adding a circulation gallery along the south side of the existing facility to tie the buildings together and also provide a new facade to mask the original pre-manufactured metal building. Site circulation was also an important element in the design, focusing on the act of arrival and the gathering of congregational members in the parking layout and design.
